1999 Hommell Vaillante " Grand défi " Carte grise française Châssis n°VF9BERLHD7A519047 - Seulement 15 exemplaires survivants ! - Exemplaire immatriculé - Authentique voiture de course Inspirée par l'œuvre du dessinateur Jean Graton, la Vaillante " Grand défi " fût présentée au Salon de Paris 1999. Basée sur la barquette Hommell, elle fût imaginée par Philippe-Charles Toussaint et ses associés pour courir le Stars Challenge, compétition réservée aux célébrités. Un total de 16 exemplaires furent construits et coururent la saison 2000, puis, en 2001, la formule fut arrêtée alors qu'il ne subsistait plus que 15 exemplaires. Les associés se partagèrent les voitures restantes. C'est en 2006 que l'actuel propriétaire, célèbre commentateur de grand prix de Formule 1 et ancien présentateur d'Auto-Moto, acheta cet exemplaire à la société de Christophe Collaro, un des créateurs du Stars Challenge. La voiture affichait alors 3500 km, parcourus essentiellement sur circuit. Elle a depuis fait l'objet d'une utilisation mixte, entre circuit et route (grâce à sa carte grise de barquette Hommell) lors de grands rallyes et manifestations historiques. Elle affiche aujourd'hui à peine plus de 9500 km et a régulièrement bénéficié de l'entretien et des contrôles d'usage. L'ensemble est en état d'origine, avec les marques inhérentes à une utilisation sportive. Equipée du moteur de Peugeot 306 S16 de 170cv en position centrale arrière, accouplé à une boite courte, cette berlinette pèse moins d'une tonne et s'avère donc être une voiture de course à part entière, extrêmement ludique. Lorsque les qualités reconnues des barquettes Hommell sont conjuguées à un dessin tout droit sorti des planches de Michel Vaillant et additionnées à une production confidentielle, nous ne pouvons qu'être en présence d'un collector à ne surtout pas manquer. Based on Hommell roadster, the car was designed by Philippe-Charles Toussaint and his associates to race in the Stars Challenge, a competition reserved for celebrities. A total of 16 units were built and raced during the 2000 season, and in 2001, when the formula was stopped just 15 of the cars remained. The partners shared the ownership of the remaining cars. It was in 2006 that the current owner, a famous commentator for Grand Prix Formula 1 and a former anchor at the TV show Auto-Moto, acquired this example from the company of Christopher Collaro, one of the creators of the Stars Challenge. The car then showed 3,500 km and had been mainly driven on the circuit. Since then it has seen a mix of uses, between track and road (with its Hommell roadster registration) at major rallies and historical events. Currently the odometer shows a tad over 9,500 km and the car has been regularly maintained. It is in original condition, with signs of sporting use. Equipped with the Peugeot 306's S16 170bhp rear mid-mounted engine and mated to a close ratio gearbox, this Berlinetta weighs less than a ton and thus proves to be quite a race car that is extremely playful in its dynamics and abilities. When the recognized abilities of the Hommell chassis are combined with a design straight out of the drawing boards of Michel Vaillant, as well as a tiny production run, the result is a highly collectible car that should not be missed out.
