Lot no. 1920
2 round ivory, tortoiseshell and gold boxes, France late 18th c., one surmounted by a pastoral miniature with cows in a country landscape and the other by a port with livestock merchants, diam. Please note that Piguet will not be able to assist buyers with the transport of lots containing elephant ivory, tortoise shell or exotic skins outside Switzerland. A buyer may not defer payment of the price of these lots, nor request cancellation of their sale, on the pretext that it would be impossible to export and/or import them from Switzerland. Fair to poor condition We have not tested the gold for grade - we assume very low grade. The various elements are detached and have cracks. This lot contains ivory and tortoiseshell. Trade in these two materials is regulated. Piguet therefore recommends that buyers inform themselves of the applicable regimes and requirements before taking any action relating to the purchase or handling of an ivory or tortoiseshell object. Piguet will not apply on behalf of buyers for exemption certificates, CITES licences, registrations or other necessary documentation, including renewals or updates, and will not arrange import or export permits required for international shipments. The buyer's inability or delay in obtaining the necessary documents or in legally arranging the export or import of the consignment will not justify cancellation of the sale or delay in payment.
