Lot no. 101
2 CV AZ-U, 1st registered on 12/02/ 1962, registration number 7366 NL 10, collector's registration, serial number 700 219, 6 volts, GLACAUTO (estate), 71 786 km certified, could be a 3rd hand car
This extremely rare version of the 2CV GLACAUTO is said to have belonged to a retired farmer from the Yonne who sold it to the Pierre garage in Vulaines (10), which intended to restore it in the 2000s. The current owner bought it in 2003.
He completely dismantled it, reassembled it, protected it against corrosion (hollow body) and repainted it in its original "cactus green" colour, with the exception of the bumper, which should have been painted the same colour on the van. Mechanically, the owner reports that he refurbished the brakes and master cylinder with silicon brake fluid in 2007 and added 4 new tyres in 2024. It runs regularly.
The A 53 engine is in order and bears its blue nameplate indicating the AZU type. It is fitted with a Solex 26 IBC carburettor that is compliant and adapted to the mechanical clutch. This AZU was fitted with constant velocity transmissions. The engine apron is still original. On its right-hand side is the paint date stamp "26 A 62" corresponding to 26 January 1962.
The bodywork is clean, with the addition of sheet metal on the front of the side decks. The exterior accessories are complete. The wheels, which have no central hole, are painted "rose grey" and fitted with new 135 R 15 tyres. The only rear-view mirror is fixed, as it should be, on the left front wing.
Inside, the upholstery is in blue Bayadère fabric instead of green. Special feature: the removable rear bench seat is part of the layout of the estate version. Access to the rear seats is facilitated by tilting the two front seats using a specially designed attachment.
For those who are attracted by the elegance of this small, light and slender car, but are not familiar with the GLACAUTO Estate conversion, it should be remembered that this modification concerned the rear section of the van, which was fitted with rectangular windows on each side and square windows on the rear doors, which were larger than those on the normal van.
This 1962 version was the last to feature fully ribbed sides, adding to its rarity. The interest of this car, perfectly identified by its manufacturer and GLACAUTO plates, lies in the fact that it can be used as an estate with a payload (mention estate in J.3 on the CG) and in its 4 seats (S1 on the CG).
This is a unique opportunity to acquire an equally unique car with which you could cross rural France (to reconnect with its origins), in a bright cabin. It could also be used in a number of utility roles. The most beautiful car in the sale. Rare and indispensable.
