Ghezzi Family Collection
Maison Piguet is pleased and honoured to present a selection from the collection of the Ghezzi family, jewellers and antique dealers for almost a century.
In the 1940s, Giacomo Ghezzi (1914-1995) opened two jewellery stores, one in Zurich (near Bahnhofstrasse) and the other in Saint-Moritz, and his wife Philomena opened an antiques shop in Zurich. Through their frequent travels, particularly to China, they also developed a genuine fascination for the arts of the Far East. They passed on their passion to their son, Fermo (1938-2006), who became a jeweller in 1958 and worked as a consultant for prestigious auction houses before joining the family business. An art enthusiast, he was an avid collector of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Chinese and Japanese art. United in this passion, Fermo and his wife travel the world, adding to their collection as they fall in love. Insatiable and indefatigable, they collected a vast number of objets d'art with which they carefully decorated their properties in Saint-Moritz and the canton of Vaud.
The collection comprises 137 lots from a wide range of fields. Highlights include a seated cat by Édouard-Marcel Sandoz (lot 18), a white gold bracelet set with lapis lazuli (lot 4370), a mountain landscape attributed to Alexandre Calame (lot 2), and Chinese cloisonné enamel ducks from the 18th century (lot 1647).

The rest of the collection will be presented in our future sales in March 2025 and June 2025.

The Ghezzi family collection
Piguet Auction House is pleased to present a selection from the Ghezzi family collection, jewelers and antique dealers for nearly a century.
In the 1940s, Giacomo Ghezzi (1914-1995) opened two jewelry stores-one in Zurich (near Bahnhofstrasse) and another in Saint Moritz-while his wife Philomena ran an antique shop in Zurich. Through their frequent travels, particularly to China, they developed a deep fascination for the arts of the Far East. They passed on their passion to their son, Fermo (1938-2006), who became a jeweller in 1958 and worked as a consultant for prestigious auction houses before joining the family business. A true art enthusiast, he avidly collected Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and the arts of China and Japan.
United by this shared passion, Fermo and his wife travelled the world, enriching their collection with each new discovery. Tireless and insatiable, they assembled a vast array of artworks, carefully decorating their residences in Saint Moritz and the canton of Vaud with these treasured pieces.
