204. Very large Neapolitan tray, Poulard Prad, circular with topographical decoration representing the view titled 'Veduta del Campo', circa 1830 A very large Naples, Poulard Prad circular topographical tray with a titled view of the 'Veduta del Campo', circa 1830 Decorated most likely by Raffaele Giovine, with finely rendered view in the manner of Hackert, titled at the base, within a gilt band and pink-ground, gilt-edged rim with a gilt foliate border, 46.1cm diam. Provenance With Lukacs and Donath, Rome Italian Private Collection Literature A. Caròla-Perrotti, Le Porcellane napoletane dell'Ottocento, 1807-1860 (1990) cat.no.169 This exceptionally large tray appears rather unique in its size when looking at pieces of Poulard Prad decorated by Giovine. The surface, as Carèla-Perrotti describes (op.cit p.171)lends itself very well for decoration of some of the most famous views of the Kingdom.
