From the so-called "Libération" or "Quarante" Spring-Summer 1971 collection, this jacket is a masculine interpretation of the jacket in the said collection presented under number 51. Renamed "Scandale" during the exhibition at the Yves Saint Laurent Foundation in 2015, this collection, inspired by the sartorial tastes of Paloma Picasso, was ahead of its time. Too many women who had lived through those years of shortages and restrictions, and who were customers of the House, boycotted the collection. The jacket is also a tribute to Elsa Schiaparelli, the embroidery on the back with the golden sun is closely related to the "Phoebus" cape from the Winter 1938 collection.
