A WOOD NETSUKE OF A KARAKO (CHINESE BOY)

The plump karako seated, dressed in loose robes, partially falling off one shoulder, holding an oversized hozuki (Chinese lantern plant, Physalis alkekengi) contained within a large folded leaf at his feet, the hozuki inlaid; signed on the base Tsuji. 3.2cm (1¼in) wide.
