The present composition shows the essence of pastoral life, showcasing the harmonious interaction between the figures and their natural surroundings. Lush greenery and a gently flowing stream enhance the tranquil atmosphere, while the peasants are depicted engaged in daily activities, reflecting their connection to the land. Similar compositions, with peasants working in a rural landscape with a rocky arch or bridge, can be dated to circa 1790-1801 (See M. Gordon-Smith, Pillement, Krakow, 2006, p. 299, nos. 301-304).
