The head is modeled with well-balanced facial features. The well-defined locks rising over the domed ushnisha have a tiered appearance. For similar, see another stucco head in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Kramrisch, The Art of India, 1954, no. 44. The face and hair also compare favourably with an example in the British Museum, published in Zwalf, Gandhara Sculpture, 1996, p. 296, no. 545.
