276. 276W A rare mid 18th century weight driven alarm timepiece, now contained in a later oak case John Vernier, London The 6.5cm arched brass dial with silvered signature plaque over the Roman chapter ring and silvered alarm setting disc to the matted centre. The weight driven movement with plates measuring 4cm x 8.5cm united by four turned pillars, verge escapement to a short bob pendulum sounding the alarm on a bell. Now contained in an oak case with caddy top and integral bracket. (weights lacking). The case 40cm high. Provenance Property of a Distinguished Private Collector
