289. A good first half of the 19th century French gilt brass mantel clock in the form of an addorsed sea creature
The signature rubbed
The 8.5cm (3.25ins) gilt engine turned dial with painted Roman numerals and (rubbed) signature supported by an addorsed sea creature (sturgeon?), with burnished detailing to the fins, set on a flowing water-effect base, the plinth with cast panel of doves drinking at a bath, on cast feet. The twin train movement with silk suspension and outside countwheel strike on the bell. 41cm high.
