29. 29W Japanese black lacquer cabinet, Edo period (1615-1868), second quarter of the 17th century, the console in Regency style A Japanese export lacquer cabinet, Edo period (1615-1868), second quarter of the 17th century, the stand of Régence style Of rectangular form, the cabinet gilt-decorated to front and sides with Japanese landscapes, trees and pagodas, the two frontal doors with engraved brass shaped hinges revealing an interior conformingly decorated with seven variously sized drawers and two larger coffer drawers with locking device, the reverse of doors equally decorated, on an associated giltwood base carved with lappets and scrolling foliate motifs, and on cabriole legs, the cabinet 92cm wide, 50.5cm deep, 80cm high (36in wide, 19 1/2in deep, 31in high), the base 103cm wide, 61cm deep, 78cm high (40 1/2in wide x 24in deep x 30 1/2in high)(2).
