A Sèvres cameo plate, circa 1808 Painted by Nicolas Marie Moriot, signed "Moriot" at the base of the bust, en grisaille in imitation of cameo with a circular classical bust seen from the rear within a gilt band, a band of gilt foliage, and a gilt floral scrollwork band on a red ground around the rim, 23.1cm diam., "M.Imple/se Sevres/8" stencilled in iron-red, "AM" in blue, incised DC and 7, red-painted inventory no. 25.417.33, (very minor wear) Provenance Minneapolis Institute of Art, no.25.417.33 A similar plate is in the Smithsonian. The bust portrait may be based on the "Vénus d'Arles" in the Louvre.
