3 terracotta floor tiles from the Maccabees Chapel in St Peter's Cathedral, Geneva, 19th century, featuring the imperial eagle, the trigram IHS, and the coat of arms of Cardinal Jean de Brogny (1342-1426), 21 x 21 cm
History: these tiles were probably made during the restoration of the chapel between 1885 and 1888, carried out by Louis Viollier (1852-1931).
Provenance: acquired by the great-grandfather of the current owner in Geneva in the 1970s at a sale to raise funds for the restoration of the chapel.
