311. A late 19t century French engraved gorge carriage clock, Retailed by: LEROY GER PASSAGE PARIS made by DROCOURT The case surmounted by an engraved handle over an oval bevelled glass inspection panel, framed within a finely engraved floral moulded top, the sides similarly engraved and set with glazed observation panels throughout, all raised on a moulded base. The 2.5 inch rectangular white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, signed to the centre LEROY GER PASSAGE PARIS PAS DE CLE, with blued steel Breguet-style hands, the lower section with subsidiary Arabic alarm-setting dial, all framed by a finely cast and engraved gilt mask enriched with floral detailing. The movement with a pair of going barrels driving the silvered lever platform escapement, striking the hours and half-hours on a blued steel gong mounted to the backplate, with alarm train mounted to the upper left, sounding on the same gong. The backplate signed Leroy and numbered 15253. Ticking and striking 13cm high. Provenance Property of a Distinguished Private Collector
