338. A large Empire period mantel clock in patinated bronze, gilt bronze and griotte red marble, the dial signed Thomire & C., Paris and Moinet ainé. A good early 19th century French patinated and gilt bronze mantel clock The dial signed for both Thomire and Moinet, Paris The standing patinated figure of Erato wearing a Classical dress, a billowing scarf flowing behind her as she plucks the Kithara mounted on a pedestal set with a portrait medallion, on a rouge marble base with geometric lozenge border and anthemion border, raised on block feet. The restored 3 inch white enamel Roman dial signed for Thomire & C, Paris and again for Moinet aine with moon hands. The twin train movement with silk suspension and outside countwheel strike on a bell. 60cms (1ft 11.5ins) high.
