350. 350W 'Lanterndluhr' wall clock in mahogany, by Johan Rettich, Vienna, first half 19th century A good first half of the 19th century boxwood-strung mahogany grande-sonnerie striking 'Lanterndluhr' Johan Rettich, Wien The architectural case with triangular pediment over a narrow trunk and square base set with levelling screws and silvered beat scale over a concave terminal, set with nine glass panels framed in boxwood, (the trunk and base both lifting out, the hood door hinged). The signed 7.5 inch white enamel Roman dial with good blued steel hands and cast gilt bezel. The going train driven by a brass weight, with ebonised wood rod pendulum to a deadbeat escapement with beat adjustment, the striking driven by twin spring barrels and sounding on a pair of blued steel coiled gongs, with strike/not strike lever behind the dial. 116cms (3ft 9.5ins) high.
