Exhibitions Athens, Benaki Museum, Jean Altamouras, his Life and Works, March 31 - May 22, 2011 (illustrated in the exhibition catalogue, p. 224). Literature G. Piemontese, Gli Altamura Ritrovati, Giovanni Ioannis Jean Altamura, Fondazione Banca del Monte edition, Foggia, 2009, p. 103 (discussed and illustrated). "A three-masted ship, perhaps a frigate towed by a steam tug. We do not know if it is a preparatory work for an oil painting, one of those that Altamura dedicated to the large ships of the Danish fleet. In this case too, the artist certainly manages to represent the boats in their naturalness, even when they are stricken by a storm. The contrast between sailing ship and steamship continues to be present."¹ ¹. G.
