38. Diego MARADONA (1960-2020). Argentina National Team No.10 jersey, 1989. Jersey No.10 in the colours of the Argentine National Team worn on 22 July 1989 during a charity match at the José Amalfitini Stadium in Buenos Aires, where Velez Sarsfield play. The match pitted the Argentine national team against a selection of the country's players, and Diego Maradona's team received a welcome boost from the presence on the pitch of Carlos Menem, who had just been elected President of the Republic and had the privilege of playing alongside a number of 1986 World Cup winners, including Maradona, Pumpido, Brown, Giusti and Olarticoechea. This shirt was only used for this match and bears the Renault advertisement, the company having sponsored the match with the help of Mr Jean-François Palade who, with his company "Conseil Maritime", was the car manufacturer's charterer for transporting Renault vehicles to South America (Argentina and Brazil). He was also President of the Football Club des Halles, a corporate club. Mr Palade was Renault's representative at the stadium on the day of the match, and Diego Maradona gave him his jersey at the end of the match, which has been kept in France for the last thirty years.
