A rare Meissen Augustus Rex vase, circa 1735
Painted with a continuous chinoiserie scene, the bulbous lower section with a trellis pattern with flower heads, reserved with four quatrefoil panels with alternating panels of a flowering branch and a flower next to a fence, gilt-edged rims, 21.8cm high, AR monogram in underglaze-blue (section of rim replaced)
A similar vase, very likely from the same garniture and formerly in the Oppenheimer and Mannheimer collections, was sold in Amsterdam by F. Muller & Cie, 14-21 October 1952, Lot 326.
