Little is known about the life and education of Henri Duvieux. Probably self-taught, he was strongly influenced by the paintings of Prosper Marilhat. He specialised in delicate depictions of Venice and Oriental landscapes. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français for the first time in 1880 with a View of Venice and a View of Constantinople. Two years later, he showed an Arab Encampment, which would be his last submission to the Salon.
