Although born in Paris, Pierre Nogaret served his apprenticeship and his whole career as a menuisier in Lyon, and is well known for the sinuous form and distinctive floral clusters of the carved frames of his seat furniture. Nogaret regularly stamped his furniture on the reverse of the back. Examples of Nogaret's work can be found in the Musée Historique and Musée des Arts décoratifs of Lyon, as well as in the Musée Jacquemart André, Paris.
