One of a series of twenty-four figures made at Doccia depicting non-European subjects and listed in the inventory of moulds (see Biancalana, 2023, p. 228 for the full archival list). The print source for this figure is taken from Charles de Ferriol's Recueil de Cent Estampes representant differentes Nations du Levant, Paris, 1714, specifically the engraving entitled "Emir/homme de Loy de la Race de Mahome (no. 22)."
A slightly different Doccia figure of a Turk is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, inv. 06.390.
