51. 51AR ISABELLE DE BORCHGRAVE(1946-2024)
Delphos Dress, 2008
Signature stamp
Sculpture in paper, ecoline and acrylic
171 x 52 x 52 cm
This dress is a reinterpretation of Mariano Fortuny's famous Delphos dress: a long, fitted cut that accentuates the feminine silhouette and a fluid drape that allows great freedom of movement.
The dress is also a testament to the artist's deep, lifelong attraction to fashion, as she first explored clothing design early in her career. Her true vocation emerged when she began experimenting with unconventional materials, notably paper, to create garments.
This was the start of a whole history of pleats, costumes, bronzes and paintings.
