Estate ID BP.4 Francesca Woodman is best known for photographing herself. But her photographs are not self-portraits in the traditional sense of the term. She is often nude or semi-nude and is usually seen half-hidden or obscured - sometimes by furniture, sometimes by slow exposures that blur her figure into a ghostly presence. These images, both beautiful and disturbing, seem ephemeral but also suggest a sense of timelessness.
