58. A Louis XVI period chest of drawers in amaranth, sycamore and rosewood marquetry, stamped J.M. Schiler. Half-moon shaped with inlaid decoration of music trophies and utensils, and simulated fluting, it opens with two drawers and two side panels; and stands on tapered legs. Grey marble top. H. 83 cm - W. 91 cm - D. 42 cm A Louis XVI commode with amaranth, sycamore and rosewood marquetry, stamped J.M. Schiler. Demi-lune shaped with marquetry decoration of music trophies and utensils, and simulated fluting, it opens with two drawers and two side panels and stands on tapered legs. Grey marble top. Jean-Martin Schiler, known as Schüler, was awarded the title of master cabinetmaker on 27 June 1781.
