A GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA BHAISAJYAGURU
Mongolia, School of Zanabazar, 18th century
Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with beaded rims, hands in dhyana mudra holding an alm's bowl, dressed in a diaphanous sanghati with a patterned hem, the folds elegantly draped over his right shoulder and gathering in ample folds below the ankles, the face with heavy-lidded almond-shaped eyes and bow-shaped mouth centered by a raised urna, the hair arranged in tight curls over the prominent ushnisha, richly gilt overall, the based sealed and gilt with a double-vajra.
