Israeli by birth, he arrived in Paris in 1951. He exhibited alongside artists Jesús Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Díez, Pol Bury, Alexander Calder and Jean Tinguely.
He invented the transformable lamellar painting, described as "polymorphic": it presents several facets depending on the position of the viewer. His paintings are panels covered with coloured lines and shapes onto which he fixes coloured triangular strips, also vertical and perpendicular to the plane, allowing three different compositions to be seen depending on the position of the viewer, from left to right. Moving along the panel, the viewer gradually sees the composition transform and the planes that were hidden from him disappear.
