A GOLD-LACQUERED SEATED WOOD FIGURE OF AMIDA Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century The figure shown seated cross-legged, dressed in flowing robes open at the chest and falling in symmetrical folds across the legs, the hands held in the raigō'in gesture welcoming the spirits of the departed, seated on a multi-tier lotus dais, with a separately carved mandorla 28cm high, figure only; 63cm high overall (3).
