69. 69AR ISABELLE DE BORCHGRAVE(1946-2024) Garden tree Mixed media acrylic and gouache on craft paper 85 x 350 cm This work marks the start of a new period for the artist after 15 years of pleated paintings. This painting should also have been pleated, but Isabelle de Borchgrave decided to leave it as is. This gives us a glimpse behind the scenes of the artist's technique before the pleating. This is the basis for the Red Sky (lot 35) and Blackshore (lot 57) pleats, which can be seen in the lower left-hand piece. From this new period, only 2 pleats exist and will exist in the future.
