Signed binding by Georges Leroux, dated 1986, olive green and Lavallière, boards decorated with a criss-cross fillet framing pieces of cloth and black threads amalgamated under varnish, green and brown suede lining and endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, folder, slipcase. First edition. Edition of 25 copies on Arches paper (no. 13). This copy is enriched with an autograph letter signed in coloured pencil: "à Georges Hugnet, Enfance, aux cent coins de ma mémoire, son ami fidèle Paul Eluard" and a second letter in pencil: "et son amie Valentine Hugo". Enriched copy: - one of the rare suites in black of the 7 original etchings, all signed with the artist's initials 'VH' and inscribed 'ep. état' 'épreuves d'etat'. 14 x 12.5 cm. - an original colour drawing signed 'Valentine Hugo' on the flyleaf 14 x 12.5 cm. - a photographic portrait signed and dated 'Valentine Hugo au recto 1949' taken by the Harcourt studio. The photograph is dedicated on the verso by Valentine Hugo to Georges Hugnet and is mounted on tabs in the format of the book: "for my dear Hugnet, who will think I look sad. And yet, since then, there has been little cheerfulness... I find it in you. Yes. Valentine Hugo". - from the bulletin announcing the publication of the book. A very precious copy of this rare publication, with an original drawing, a suite of engravings and a letter to Georges Hugnet, in an astonishing binding by Georges Leroux.
