77. A Meissen silver-gilt-mounted scent flask, circa 1730
Of flattened bottle shape, the body decorated with a continuous harbour scene flanked by two moulded Frauenkopf masks, the shell-shaped moulded base covered in gilt, the foot, lip, and stopper mounted in silver-gilt, 8.5cm high, (wear to shell-shaped gilding around base)
Provenance
Acquired by the grandfather of the present owner, and thence by descent.
A similar scent bottle, decorated with chinoiserie scenes, was sold at Bonhams, London, 6 July 2021, lot 67.
