STATUETTE DE KAKASYA EN ALLIAGE DE CUIVRE TIBET, XVIIE SIÈCLE Himalayan Art Resources item no. 4878 19 cm (7 1/2 in.) high A COPPER ALLOY FIGURE OF KAKASYA TIBET, 17TH CENTURY 西藏 十七世紀 鴉面空行母銅像 Provenance: With Claude de Marteau, Brussels, by 1970s This figure of Kakasya belongs to a group of animal-headed dakinis residing within the mandala of Chakrasamvara and Vajravarahi. Depicted with the face of a crow, she watches over their cosmic realm as the guardian of the eastern gate. An image of Chakrasamvara and Vajravarahi, cast with simple adornments who stand atop a similar ovoid base, likely served as the central image of this sculptural set (Baader et. al., Tantrische Kunst de Buddismus, 1981, p. 242, no. 125). Compare with a bird-faced dakini from the same set (HAR 10661) and another animal-face dakini from the Claude de Marteau Collection, Part 2, sold at Bonhams, Paris, 4 October 2022, lot 35.
