GRANDE ET RARE PLAQUE EN PORCELAINE DE LA FAMILLE ROSE Époque Jiaqing/Daoguang (1796-1850) A RARE LARGE FAMILLE ROSE 'FIGURAL' PLAQUE Jiaqing/Daoguang (1796-1850) Finely painted in vibrant enamels and highlighted with gold detailing with an extensive scene depicting the birthday celebrations of the illustrious Tang dynasty general Guo Ziyi (697-781) represented as a bearded old man standing under a tall pine tree on one side of a bridge, while groups of colourfully dressed high officials and dignitaries arrive and gather on the other side of the bridge around his wife, all set in a mountainous landscape setting featuring pavilions in richly coloured vegetation among towering rockwork and expanses of water, with rolling hills and gnarled pine trees, distant lofty mountains, with groups of farmers working the fields and horses grazing, grooms resting beside a large carriage, and women and children excitedly following the gathering, hardwood frame. 82cm wide x 46.8cm high (32 1/4in wide x 18 3/8in high) PROPERTY FROM A DISTINGUISHED PORTUGESE COLLECTION 葡萄牙顯赫收藏 清嘉庆/道光 粉彩郭子儀拜壽瓷板 Provenance: Acquired by the grandfather of the present owner in Hong Kong in the late 1960s, and thence by descent 來源: 現任藏家祖父於1960年代末於香港獲得，並由後人保存迄今 Landscapes as a motif on porcelains became increasingly popular during the Yongzheng and Qianlong periods, as the craftsmen mastered the challenging technique of famille rose enamels. The colourful palette lent itself to the rendering of distant mountains shrouded in mist in graduated shades or washes of colour. The brilliant enamels on this plaque and the naturalistic and individual facial expressions of the different figures represented in the large gathering, are typical of enamelled porcelains with figural decoration made under the Jiaqing and Daoguang emperors.
