Clair-de-lune-glazed wares were highly prized during the Qing dynasty. The glaze was first developed during the reign of the Xuande Emperor (r.1426-1435), this luminous-coloured glaze became popular only during the Kangxi period, when it was applied mostly to decorate objects intended for scholarly use.
