Partie de service à thé et café en porcelaine de Meissen à fond turquoise, circa 1745 A Meissen turquoise-ground part tea and coffee service, circa 1745 Painted with scenes depicting Watteauesque figures in park settings, each within a shaped gilt quatrelobe cartouche edged on the inside in dark brown, the waste bowl and saucers with similar scenes within gilt scrollwork cartouches and gilt scrollwork borders to the rims, comprising: a coffee pot and cover, a hot milk jug and cover, a circular sugar bowl and cover, a waste bowl, four coffee cups and saucers, four teabowls and saucers, the covers with gilt pinecone finials, the sugar bowl cover with a gilt branch handle applied with flowers, the teabowls with a flower on the inside; together with a similarly decorated Meissen turquoise-ground teapot and cover, circa 1745, the coffee pot and cover: 21.5cm high, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, gilt numeral 49. to all pieces except the teapot, the teapot and cover with gilt mark C., impressed numerals (finial of hot milk jug cover replaced and restored chip to rim, very minor chips and wear) (25) Provenance: Anon. sale, Christie's London, 1 March 1993, lot 154; The Rosa Alba Collection of Meissen Porcelain
