9. 9AR ISABELLE DE BORCHGRAVE(1946-2024) Dorthe - Anne Signed and numbered 3/12 and 1/12 respectively Paper and gouache 50 cm (approx. each) Isabelle de Borchgrave has been inspired by the beauty of nature throughout her life. The paper tulips, her favourite flowers, are the culmination of a long career in which flowers and paper have played a central role. In addition to classic floral still lifes and botanical models, she also drew inspiration from didactic porcelain flowers, a typically Flemish tradition. The flowers all bear the names of women very close to her in everyday life, at work or in her inner circle.
