A WOOD NETSUKE OF A WASP IN A PEAR
By Sangetsu, mid-19th century
The pear of typical form, carved all over with ukibori pimples, the wasp eating its way through a large hole gnawed on one side, the reverse with several smaller gnawed holes, the wasp's eyes inlaid; signed in a raiseD oval reserve Sangetsu. 4.8cm (1 7/8in) high.
