A beautiful and rare hussar's sabre dating: late 18th Century provenance: Poland Curved, single-and-false-edged blade, with fuller at the center and groove on the back, engraved and three-quarter gilded with hussar on horseback among floral motifs, the back decorated with flowers and waves; one-quillon, gilt brass hilt richly decorated in bas-relief with warriors, trophy, rocaille and floral motifs. Cross-shaped sheath-guard wings, wooden handle covered with leather (small missing parts). The long cap screwed to the base. Fine leather-covered wooden scabbard (small missing parts) with gilt brass mounts, decorated en suite with the handle and the long chape with small damages, the end of the chape abraded and open. Two suspension rings. length 97.5 cm.
