A beautiful basket-hilted 'schiavona' sword for an officer dating: 1713 provenance: Republic of Venice, Solid, straight blade of lenticular section, the central segment featuring a long fuller ending about 10 cm from the tip and the base. With an engraving of an emblem on the right side, at the forte, unfortunately almost completely disappeared, the only element still visible is a choker with pendants. The left side with date '1713' and 'N. 29 R'. Elegant, iron, basket-shaped hilt depicting the lion of Saint Mark (stylized). The front side is enriched with gilded-brass mounts decorated with rosettes (one missing). Grip with a twin-lead copper covering and wire bindings. Brass pommel shaped as a warrior's head, worked in the round. length 109,5 cm.
