A beautiful embossed morion dating: late 16th Century provenance: North Italy, Iron skull in one piece, with average tall comb and boat-shaped brim, twisted border, small defects and missing parts, at the base a row of rivets (most of the missing). The entire surface is finely and majestically embossed with high and bas-relieved decorations, depicting a battle on horseback framed by grotesque masks and bands, on a side, and a group of warriors on horseback crossing a river on the other, framed en suite; the comb decorated with busts, animals and masks, the brim with masks and mythical animals between floral motifs.
