A beautiful pair of 'Tuscan-Emilian' pistols by Cassiano Zanotti
dating: late 18th Century
provenance: Tuscan-Emilian area, Smoothbore, two-stage barrels with small engraving and frames grooved at the girdles. Powder chambers with a crowned Medicean mark. Beautiful snaphaunce locks, rounded plates with fine floral engravings, swan-necked hammers, screws with masks signed 'CZ' (standing for Cassiano Zanotti) inside. Beautiful iron mounts engraved with vine-shoot and floral motifs, small masks carved in bas-relief. Dark walnut full stock with typical 'Tuscan-Emilian' carvings.
