A beautiful Qama
dating: 1844
provenance: Armenia, Double-edged blade with central fuller, decorated with fine gold koftgari decorations with birds, volutes and floral motifs all over its length; three gilt-inlaid cartouches with writings in Armenian language on one side: 'Agop 1844' - 'Tamirianz' - 'Barghamian'.Bone grip (walrus) with ogival pins and geometrical elements with gold decorations. Wooden scabbard with black-skin covering at the recto and red-skin covering at the verso.
The button's chape and the loop made of iron, en suite with gold koftgari motifs.
The loop with engraved signature 'Amal-e-Ali Shah' (opera di Ali Shah).
The Amenian masters were very appreciated and renowned at the Russian Imperial Court. length 58 cm.
