A brescian composite militia armour dating: Late 16th Century provenance: Brescia, Burgonet of elegant shape, with skull in one piece with medium-high comb, outlined and with twisted peak, pointed brim and nape-guard, with a recessed band and hemmed, twisted border, cheek-piece en suite (one with restore on the hinge); a row of iron rivets with brass rosettes. Original, brass, riveted plume-holder. Gorget with two neck plates (the upper one well outlined and twisted) and front-and back-plates. Very interesting breast-plate with neckline and riveted, twisted gussets, ribbed in the center, central part of the breast-plate engraved with San Marco lion, keeping the usual book open with the text 'PAX TIBI MARCE EVANGELISTA MEUS', in front of the dog seating among the two trees. Below 'CALVISA' (for comune of Calvisano). Below a riveted plate, pointed in the center (of animated type), then two loin-guards, back-plate decorated en suite but with riveted plate and only one of the culet. Complete brassards and six-plated tassets. Modern and restored leather strings. height circa 108 cm.
