Dectot, Céramiques hispaniques (XII-XVIII siècle) , Paris 2007, p. 74 no. 38 The parade dish shows a broad brim with a slightly sloping rim, a wide cavetto and a central raised umbo; near the rim, as usual, there is a hole made before firing to facilitate the dish's exposure on the wall. The decoration on the front is dominated by the large figure of a bull, which extends all the way to the brim, and by a small fantastic fair, placed just above the main figure; all around it are thin plant racemes with a few larger openwork leaves, while the rim is embellished with a frame of small arches centred by dots. The back of the dish is also entirely enamelled and painted in typical Hispano-Moorish style, with a wheel in the centre of the foot surrounded by eight concentric fillets, one of which is thicker, and a triple sequence of spiral ovals. This dish belongs to a limited production of Hispanic workshops, in which the painted figure occupies a large part of the available surface, taking over from the plant decoration.
