A crackled celadon-glazed porcelain vase China, Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1912), Yongzheng (1722 - 1735) Of baluster form with flared neck above a pair of moulded scroll and ring handles, the vase is covered in a thick, lustrous celadon glaze, a type of glaze known for its subtle green hues reminiscent of jade. Celadon glazes were highly prized for their aesthetic appeal and were often associated with scholar-official culture. This vase is classified as a "guan" type, referring to a classic and highly esteemed type of ceramic ware from the Song dynasty. Guan wares were known for their crackled glaze and simple, elegant forms. The vase reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of the Yongzheng period, with its meticulous potting, precise glazing, and fine finish.Celadon-type guan vases from the Yongzheng period were not only beautiful objects but also symbols of status and refinement.They were often commissioned by the imperial court or members of the elite and were used for display or as gifts.These vases represent a continuation of the classic tradition of guan ware while also reflecting the aesthetic preferences of the Yongzheng era.
