finely decorated with cranes among clouds painted in underglaze blue and overglaze purple and green enamels.
This very rare moonflask vase, crafted during the Ming Dynasty, is a splendid example of the artistry and craftsmanship of doucai porcelain. Doucai ( 斗彩), meaning "contending colors" or "joined colors," refers to a technique in Chinese porcelain decoration that combines underglaze blue and white with overglaze enamels.
The vase features a classic moonflask shape, with a globular body, a slender neck and a circular flat base.The designs are first outlined in underglaze blue, then filled in with overglaze purple,red and green enamels.
