A fine cased breechloading double-barreled gun by Stephen Grant
dating: 1885-90
provenance: London, Round, smoothbore, fine damask, 12 cal barrels of high quality, rib with foresight marked 'STEPHEN GRANT 67a St JAMES'S STREET. LONDON', marked at the bottom; iron frame elegantly engraved with racemes, stamped with a crowned 'V', Anson & Deeley's patented mechanism, marked 'STEPHEN GRANT' on both sides; with an operating lever and a safety lock with the gilt writing 'SAFE' at the tang; blued trigger guard, double trigger; briarwood butt and fore-end, the first one with checkered neck and an oval shield at the bottom with the crowned monogram 'GC'. Together with the additional later smoothbore barrels, appositely manufactured, made of blued steel. In their suitcase-shaped case, covered with leather and lined with red cloth, with label of S. Grant and three accessories, marked with the manufacturer's writing. length 80 cm.
