A fine wheel lock puffer
dating: Late 16th Century
provenance: Augsburg, Smooth-bore, finished, two-stage, 13 mm cal. barrel, octagonal first part and with Augusta stamps, round after an engraved ring; angled tang and with sharpened sight; external wheel lock, held by a mount pierced with the wings, safety lock, engraved span pan cover. Engraved spring, cock engraved with dragon's head and fish head. Full stock of typical shape with a big, flattened pommel, richly inlaid with bone plates, engraved with a warrior with morion, two faces, bear, dog, mask, floral and geometrical motifs. Iron trigger-guard, slightly chiselled. Iron-tipped wooden ramrod. length 48 cm.
