A FLORENTINE CASKET, 16TH CENTURY CASSINA, FLORENCE, 16TH CENTURY in carved and gilded walnut, urn-shaped lid decorated with several rows of mouldings with two bands of carved baccellation and nailing alternating with open leaves at the corners, rectangular body punctuated by oval reserves separated on the long sides at the centre by a cherub holding a scroll, corners decorated with projecting profiles from the body of a child and giral legs; the body is framed by upper geometric profiling and by various orders of carving, half-leaves, beading, vegetal carving and various declinations of a baccellated motif; rests on flattened ball feet, 35.5X55X39.5 cm Comparative literature F.
